Static = Content (text/images) converted into plain HTML
- Advantages
  - Quick turn-around assuming all content is supplied electronically
  - Sometimes Design is the goal rather than Function
  - Translates well and is consistent in all popular browsers
  - Translates well to other media such as hand-held devices
- Disadvantages
  - Manual maintenance is required - an up-keep fee is agreed between the client and the webmaster
  - Slow to change content (text/images)
  - Nothing can be stored, no dynamic content such as News
Dynamic = Content (text/images) treated with special script, Javascript, DHTML or AJAX to perform smoother effects or give movement such as a fly-out menu system or other visual effects
- Advantages
  - Can add intuition to a design by improving navigational structure
  - Can bring a 'pulse' to an otherwise 'unconscious' website
  - Can offer great visual transitions if used appropriately
- Disadvantages
  - Can sometimes hinder or confuse an otherwise 'simple' website

e-commerce simply means electronic business

Do business by trading online. e-commerce is the means of selling goods on the Internet, using web pages. This involves much the same processes as selling goods elsewhere, but in a digital format. Design, Product display (shop front), stocking, selling and payment are all familiar concepts, e-commerce allows all this to happen on two or three screens - four-five clicks if necessary.

e-catalogue
To sell goods, you must display them (like you would in a shop window). e-commerce approaches this in much the same way as a printed catalogue. Products are displayed in similar and already familiar fashion, as images with text descriptions, prices and product options.

e-commerce = Trading online - placing an order and receiving an electronic receipt of payment
