Emphasis on Branding & Focus on Products

Make your home page do all the work for you. Include your latest added products and make sure your navigation is clear and concise. If there are promotions or sales it might be sensible to replicate some of the navigation. But be careful as you want to avoid content duplication penalties from Google. A clean layout with the emphasis on shop branding and the focus on the products that are being sold.

Google must be able to ‘See’ your Content in order to Index it

Online shops from Creative Venom Kent are creative yet intuitive. Products are easy to browse and easy to locate. We make use of ‘filter by brand‘ and ensure the products are labeled sufficiently for search purposes and appropriately to ensure Google can see them and therefore successfully index your website pages. Website design that is stylish and elegant as well as simplistic with the user always in mind.

Pay attention to the smallest of Detail

The product detail page should provide a greater description of the product. Try to be descriptive but do not stray from the accuracy and true representation of the product. The description is important and should vary from product to product even if they are similar. Google will reward you for the varying content by ranking you well in SERPSSearch Engine Results Pages. The options and attributes should be clearly visible to reduce the risk of a potential customer leaving your website.

Cross-sell by showing Related Products

Once a user has shown an interest in a product by clicking, it is sensible to cross-sell by showing products that also relate to this product. This is a way of increasing your sales on a per transaction basis. Creative Venom, website designers and developers in Kent ensure this process is carried out in a way that is logical to the user and does not act as a deterrent to the initial product that was clicked.

Add to Basket & Checkout must be visible & obvious

The basket or bag page should be simple as it needs to be startling obvious what to do next. The predominant button on this page needs to be the checkout button. This should allow the user to click once (no more) and then be taken to the chosen or preferred payment gateway.

Pay Pal is an excellent choice for Payment Gateway

Pay Pal is an excellent choice to get the ball rolling. The fees are extremely low and the infrastructure and security is improving constantly. You do not have to have a Pay Pal account and the user can therefore pay using their preferred credit or debit card. Creative Venom will advise you on your payment method. Pay Pal is ever increasing in popularity and so to is Sage Pay. Each of these provide a ‘pro’ account whereby you can seamlessly integrate with your website so the user experience starts and finishes on one site – yours!

Simple, easy to use and edit Online Shops Kent

The following prices are guide line prices. In reality specifications will differ and will almost always require an element of bespoke design or development. Therefore these prices are for benchmarking only.

The following shopping cart solutions are ‘bolt-on’ facilities, and therefore assume that there is already a website of sort, either already exiting on the Internet or at the planning stage, and therefore, may be part of the overall specification.

From £750 – Shop A – Really Simple Shop

  • All products are displayed on one page (still well laid out and logically organised)
  • The Title of the product is displayed (important for SEO)
  • The description and the ‘add to basket’ button is displayed once the user is viewing the larger image in ‘lightbox’ (designed with simplicity in mind and with as few clicks as possible)
  • Up to 50 products – Pay Pal (remember Pay Pal is also used to power payments taken from credit cards so do not think that this is a limitation on payment methods)
  • Once added to the ‘basket’ the user is taken to the ‘shopping basket’ page where they will see the products they have added during the session (their visit to the site)
  • At the ‘shopping basket’ page the user can confirm the price and proceed to checkout, increase the quantity, remove the product altogether from the ‘basket’ or continue shopping with the intent to add more products to the ‘basket’
  • If the user clicks ‘checkout’ they will be taken across to Pay Pal in a new browser window
  • The parameters from the order will be passed to Pay Pal and the user will confirm payment
  • A header graphic or logo can be positioned at this point to indicate to the user that they are still in the right place to complete their transaction
  • After payment the user will get sent confirmation from Pay Pal and the website owner will also be sent an email of the order
  • Largely, it will be down to the website owner to check their Pay Pal account regularly to monitor sales, History and Ordering activity
  • Basic control over postage/shipping

From £1,250 Shop B – Basic Online Shop Kent
(all of simple shop features plus…)

  • Products can be displayed on multiple pages with no restrictions on categories and sub-categories
  • Up to 150 products (recommended)
  • Pay Pal and Sage Pay for payment mechanisms – The main benefit of Sage Pay is that funds are deposited straight into your company bank account
  • Export subscribers list to Campaign Monitor ready to design and create Email bulletins
  • The payment can be taken on the actual site within the intended site design. The user will not be taken to third party payment gateways and the process of taken payment is a lot smoother
  • The user will have their own login and therefore account to view orders and payment status
  • Orders will appear in admin area and be able to be moved through simple order progression (in progress, dispatched, problem, refund etc)
  • Fancier handling of multiple product images (i.e. Zoom, image gallery)
  • When a user orders for a second time their address information will be remembered
  • If payment pages are required to be within the site an SSL Certificate is required at a cost of £95 / year

From £5k Shop C – Advanced Online Shop Kent (all above features plus…)

This shop will be designed on a bespoke basis to ensure the user experience is inline with the objectives of the site. This shop will include all the benefits of the previous shop along with:

Website Design & Development Internet Kent

Websites Kent – Accessible Navigation is Key

Creative Venom Ltd have ample experience in designing and developing intuitive and accessible navigation for websites and other online facilities. Our best example can be seen here; http://www.cumberland.co.uk

Website Development Kent – Add categories and sub-categories quickly and easily

This navigation is auto generated from a ‘back-end’ admin so the administrator can quickly and easily add new categories and sub-categories. The system is robust enough to handle all the expansion required to suit the growth of the building societies‘ portfolio.

Website Wire frame development  – planning is vital in achieving a successful site

We are used to working from wire frames and nearly always encourage our clients to work this way. Diagrams centered around the flow of a website can often identify potential pitfalls early on and therefore nipped in the bud. http://www.redpagemarketing.co.uk is an excellent example of where we did just that. Working from a wire frame enabled us to recognise regions of the site that would otherwise later lead to possible ‘duplication’ penalties with Google’s search results. A much leaner and ordered site was realised (better for the user and more visible to Google) as a result.

Website CSS – Cascading Style Sheets for ultimate control over the look and feel of your site

Style sheets have been our strength for some time. Again, http://www.cumberland.co.uk  http://www..cumberlandbusiness.co.uk http://www.cumberlandestateagents.co.uk and  http://www.cumberlandfinancialplanning.co.uk exemplify our expertise in CSS perfectly. The solution here was to provide one structured .css file that easily controlled the ‘look’ and ‘feel’ (following house styles and taking design clues from existing corporate identity) of three websites, by allowing quick access to colours and background images. There is a consistency to the marketing and branding, although each one can be suitably recognised. The website is fast becoming their online flagship and attracting increasing traffic month on month.

Creative Venom have developed their own Content Management System that rivals any already popular system such as WordPress or Joomla

We actively promote our own ‘in-house’ developed CMS (Content Management System) as we believe it to be the best in regards to offering the greatest flexibility to accommodate growth of content and user interaction and simplicity of use. Our system is ‘modular’ based and can therefore be added to. This we have found is attractive to larger organisations that have specific requirements in terms of functionality. http://www.cumberlandestateagents.co.uk saw us develop a bespoke module that allowed them to maintain all their branch information including maps from the admin panel. Another example was a module developed to create an ‘approval process’. This made sure that articles and other pieces of content were approved as necessary before being published.

Manipulation & Customisation of templates

We work with other systems on a daily basis. Other than our own system we prefer to work with WordPress and Joomla. These are written in PHP which is our preferred developing programming language. We can therefore manipulate and customise these templates quickly and easily. We can also build bespoke modules to ‘plugin’ to these community based products. However we favour our own system as we can then provide first rate support for your website and all the code is written entirely by ourselves. http://www.joepubclick.co.uk is a relatively young initiative design and developed by us in WordPress.

Website Development work is delivered in phases

We deliver our work in phases and gain feedback at each stage. This allows us to implement desired changes from the client before progressing the project. Again Cumberland was built using this approach and was efficiently and effectively achieved within the several months scheduled for its development.

Website Design – There are many approaches to successful Online Marketing…

Creative Venom have a vast knowledge base of the Internet at large. We have designed and built Websites for a very diverse client base. Our talent lies in the fact that we can quickly recognise the need and therefore deploy a strategy that will inevitably lead to success with a very high return on investment.

People of Kent have varying perceptions of what a Website is…

A Website can mean many things. These days a user expects a certain level of professionalism from a Website or they simply go elsewhere. Professionalism will only emerge if the need is clearly recognised and then fulfilled by delivering the right measure of functionality. But most of all a Website should be useful. A useful site will be one that is talked about, linked to and book marked. The process of linking along with other positive types of viral marketing will have a huge affect on Google. It’s Search Engine will index your pages and you will appear higher in Search Results.

What do we mean by Functionality…

Five years ago there were a breed of Websites whos primary function was to serve as purely and simply as an Online Brochure. This was almost always regurgitated content from PDF’s or Quark Express files. The Website felt very flat and was merely an Online Directory offering no more than a Home Page, About Us and Contact Us. You could argue that it served a purpose – this could of been a case but often the Design was overlooked and numerous images made up the page which was obviously non-indexed content as far as Google was and is concerned.

Sometimes an Online Presence is a good start…

Online Directory based Websites still serve a purpose today but they, as you would expect, have moved on, and function a little better. A bare minimum package if you like would now typically consist of:

  • 2-3 pages of branded content that falls inline with an already established corporate identity or perpetual theme
  • Clearly defined contact details including Email and Google Map
  • Several links including some external content for further reading and/or PDF’s for download

This is no more than a basic online presence and offers no more than a static listing. However this is often a start point for most businesses and if the web pages have been coded with a long-term view in mind it can form a sturdy platform to build upon. Creative Venom Kent would almost always take this approach so that in a few months time new content may be introduced in an orderly fashion. This could be a brand new category heading or perhaps several pages added to an exiting category. The design although basic should still remain flexible and adapt suitably to rapid growth.

Basic but should still be susceptible to Google Bots…

Although the design may be visibly simplistic and the content limited, it is still of critical importance to offer a site that can be easily indexed by Google, otherwise you could argue that the whole exercise has been a waste of time. There are many techniques a web developer Kent can employ to allow Google ‘Bots’ to ‘crawl’ a website more easily. Creative Venom will always strike the right balance of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) by not overdoing some of the following Search Engine Optimisation techniques:

  • Title Tags
  • Keywords
  • Description
  • Article / Post Tags
  • Keyword Density
  • Link Farming
