DJ NVS Styles’s Best of Biggie, Volume One Brings Back That Boom-Bap Beat

Miami’s DJ NVS Styles has slowly gained notoriety over the past couple years thanks to his killer mixtapes. Most recently, he released the 2010 Get Wasted mixtape that scored him a nomination for “Best Rap Mixtape Of The Year” at the SEAs (Southern Entertainment Awards), where he received a total of three noms this year.

Well, NVS Styles decided to switch things up a little bit and put together a new series of mixes entitled the “Best That Ever Did It.” And the first featured artist is Notorious B.I.G. The designers behind the cover artwork are UK based Creative Venom. Designers straight out of London who produce hi-impact album covers and mix tape designs.

The Best Of Biggie, Volume One is a nice collection of the classics from one of the most celebrated emcees in hip-hop. The mixtape starts off with a custom scratch intro by NVS and a very boom-bap beat decorated with various lines from the one and only B.I.G. Next there’s an original remix of “Nasty Boy,” followed by selections from Ready To Die, Life After Death, and the posthumous albums — not to mention the always amazing Biggie-Tupac live freestyle from 1995.

Overall, if you’re a true Biggie fan or even just a New York hip-hop accolyte, there isn’t much on this tape you haven’t heard. However, a lot of people probably haven’t dusted off those old Notorious B.I.G. CDs and tapes in a while. So NVS Styles has saved you the trouble and put all the classics in one compact downloadable package.

Creative venom have officially gone state side with this Mixtape Design Kent London. The Collaborator Logo Design was created from scratch – all the Client knew is that they wanted to utilise the word itself. It was up to us to make it work as a graphical piece on it’s own as well as a finished Mixtape Design. With a strong California style; lots of sexy super heroes and body perfect images were montages together to form the finished piece. We had to use a range of images from various sources. Images were gathered from Kent studios as well as from graphic artists working on the project in London and of course in California. This was an example where the finished Graphic Design totaled more than the sum of its parts! This Flyer, designed by Creative Venom design agency for Kent, London and States was an advanced design boasting many graphical techniques and skills with montage and composition. All images were supplied as regular bog-standard photographs which had to be carefully cut out and spliced together in a particular arrangement. Time was taken to source the correct backgrounds and textures for the piece. Lastly a well chosen filter was applied over the finished artwork to give it an etched and slightly worn vibe. This was just the mood the client wanted and was thrilled with the end result. Lastly we looked at an in-your-face logo. We went for it with a ‘Relentless’ inspired typeface and added all the flashes and bling on Photoshop to make the logo stand up and be counted. Creative Venom is really proud of this particular piece and hope that more work from the particular client continues as the artist themselves grow too in popularity.
