Creative Venom have had a real creative few weeks. One exciting task was working on a logo Kent & America for a custom chopper bike builder in America. You’ve seen Amercan Chopper on Sky right? well this was the sort of audience this client wanted to attract and it was Kent Design Agency Creative Venom’s job to provide him with an eye catching graphical logo that would work in a number of different guises. Above is the result and the client was blown away with the finished renders.

The logo started off as a pencil sketch. This was then enhanced a little with a little black ink. Once the main outline was defined it was then on to the Mac to produce the vector logo and add the colour. It was then finally pulled into Photoshop to add the finishing touches such as the lightening and the rest of the shading. This was a fun logo to produce and made worthwhile when we received such positive feedback from the client.

Kent Design Agency Creative Venom have been working with businesses in Glasgow as well as closer to home. We have just produced a Logo design that embodies the spirit of VW Camper Vanning! It is designed to embrace the culture surrounding the hobby and appeal to the modern and traditional enthusiasts. The style of illustration was to be a hand-drawn feel with bold colours. The Client wanted us to work with a sunset and road element. The leaflet produced was double sided and was to carry on the theme. We decided to use a repetitive texture for the background with solid areas for the text.

Creative Venom’s Logo Design check list

• Choose no more than three colors
• Retain only the necessary
• Type must be legible
• The logo must be easily recognisable
• Unique shape or layout for the logo is desirable
  
• Just seek up to three opinions on your design
  
• Try to be original and do not copy exiting brands
• Avoid clip art under any circumstances
• The logo should appeal in black and white
• The logo should be recognisable when inverted
• It should still be reconisable when scaled down
• Symbols and text should compliment each other rather than conflict
  
• Avoid recent logo design Kent trends. Instead, make the logo look timeless – a classic!
  
• Do not use special effects (including, but not limited to: gradients, drop shadows, reflections, and light bursts)
• Fit the logo into a square or rectangular layout if possible, avoid obscure shapes
• Avoid tiny detail
• Consider all the places the logo will be presented and design with that in mind
  
• Invoke feelings of being bold and confident, never dull and weak
• It is good to remember that you will never create the perfect logo – at least not straight away!
• The logo should have meaning – make it communicate what it is representing
• A photo does not make a logo
• Avoid the use of multiple fonts
  
• Each element of the logo needs to be aligned. Left, center, right, top, or bottom.
• The logo should look solid, with no trailing elements.
• Always consider your audience – who are you designing for?
  
• Always choose function over innovation
• If the brand name is memorable, the brand name should be the logo
• Create variations. The more variations, the more likely you are to get it right
• The logo must look consistent across multiple platforms
• You should be able to describe the logo to someone else in few words
  
• Do not use strap lines in the logo
• Sketch out ideas using paper and pencil before working on a computer
• Simple is best
  
• The logo should not be distracting or uncomfortable to look at
  
• It should be honest in its representation
• The logo should be balanced visually
• Avoid bright, neon colors and dark, dull colors
