The first element of this process to get right is the logo or logotype. These can vary in complexity but essentially simple is best and most effective. Creative Venom have recently designed a suite of stationery for MODOX Construction. We were responsible for name generation, brand creation and identity evolvement. We are now in the throws of translating the printed branding to the web. This will soon see the launch of a website of which the new identity will be reinforced, and some components may be creatively used to add interest.
The typeface chosen was Amplitude. Originally released in 2003, Amplitude derives inspiration from the “ink traps” found in typefaces designed for printing at small sizes on absorbent newsprint. Traditionally, these notches help prevent letter forms from filling in with ink, but Its designer, Schwartz adapted the technique to create a dramatic effect at large display sizes. Consequently this translates well as vehicle signage and livery. The face will work well around the building site when it appears on hoarding and building wrap etc.
